About Aluminium Rolling Shutter
Aluminium is specified for three reasons: it does not corrode the way steel does, it is light enough that a large curtain stays easy to operate, and it takes a finish that suits a front elevation rather than a service yard.

Standard — roll-formed
Lightweight roll-formed aluminium profile in approximately the 1.0 mm class, for shops, offices and commercial entrances.
Heavy duty — roll-formed
Heavier roll-formed aluminium profile in approximately the 1.2 to 1.5 mm class, for wider openings and heavier use.
Premium — extruded
Extruded architectural aluminium profile. Thickness and profile dimensions are configuration dependent, because an extruded section is specified by its geometry rather than by sheet thickness.

FAQ
Questions we are actually asked
- What thickness is the aluminium curtain?
- Approximately the 1.0 mm class on the standard roll-formed profile and approximately 1.2 to 1.5 mm on heavy duty. The premium extruded profile is configuration dependent, because an extruded section is defined by its geometry rather than by a sheet thickness.
- Is aluminium as secure as steel?
- For the same opening, a steel curtain gives more physical resistance. Aluminium is specified where corrosion resistance, curtain weight and finish matter more, which on a showroom or office entrance is often the correct trade.
- Can we have a specific colour?
- Yes. Anodised, powder coated or a specified RAL colour. Give us the RAL reference with the enquiry and it is quoted with the shutter.
- What sizes is the Aluminium Rolling Shutter available in?
- It is made to the opening rather than supplied in fixed sizes. Send us the clear width and height along with the headroom and side room available, and we will confirm what the configuration supports.
- Can it be motorised, and can an existing shutter be motorised?
- Yes to both, where the curtain and barrel suit it. Motor selection follows curtain weight, opening size, barrel diameter and how often the shutter runs, so it is calculated for the opening rather than taken from a product line.
- What happens during a power failure?
- Every powered shutter is supplied with a manual override, by hand chain, crank or release depending on the configuration. It is part of the specification rather than an accessory.
- What do you need from us to quote?
- Clear opening width and height, the headroom and side room, roughly how many times a day it will be used, whether it is internal or external, and the finish you want. That is usually enough for a configuration and a price.
