01Introduction

About automatic gates

An automated gate has to do two things at once: let the right traffic through without delay, and stop reliably when something is in the way. Everything in this family is built around that pairing — a drive matched to leaf weight and duty cycle, and a detection and safety layer that governs it.

Which gate type suits a site is decided almost entirely by geometry: how much clear boundary exists beside the opening, whether anything may cross the driveway, and how much room a leaf has to swing into.

Typical applications

  • Factory and plant main gates
  • Warehouse and logistics yards
  • Corporate campus vehicle entries
  • Housing societies and gated developments
  • School, college and institutional entrances
  • Constrained urban plots with limited boundary run

02Why

Why automatic gates?

Sized to the duty cycle

Drive, gearbox and control are matched to leaf weight and daily cycle count. An operator sized only for weight overheats long before it fails mechanically.

Detection before contact

Photocells, safety edges and obstruction sensing stop and reverse travel before the leaf touches anything.

Manual release as standard

Every powered gate can be released and moved by hand during a power failure.

Part of the access system

Loop detectors, readers, remotes, keypads and intercoms drive the operator directly, so the gate becomes a decision point rather than an obstacle.

03Categories

Grouped by how they actually work

A category here is a construction or operating principle — the level at which two products genuinely behave differently, rather than just being finished differently.

Sliding Gates

The leaf runs parallel to the boundary — the default wherever there is no room for a swing arc into the road or the yard.

Automatic Gates

Automatic Sliding Gates

Motorised sliding gates for factory, warehouse and campus entrances, running on a floor track or cantilevered clear of the driveway.

Automatic Gates

Telescopic Sliding Gates

Multi-leaf sliding gates whose panels nest as they retract, for wide openings on boundaries too short for a single leaf.

Swing Gates

Hinged leaves on posts either side of the opening, for entrances with clear swing room and moderate duty.

Automatic Gates

Automatic Swing Gates

Single or double leaf swing gates with articulated arm, linear ram or underground operators, and nothing crossing the driveway.

Retractable Gates

A folding lattice leaf that collapses on itself, so a long opening parks into a very short length of boundary.

Automatic Gates

Retractable Gates

Motorised retractable gates in lengths to 30 m and a standard 1.6 m height, trackless or on single and double tracks, with 220 V drive and remote control.

05Performance considerations

What actually decides the specification

  1. 01

Clear opening width, and the clear side-run available for a leaf to retract into.

  2. 02

Whether anything may cross the driveway — that decides tracked against cantilever or trackless.

  3. 03

Leaf weight, height and wind exposure, especially for a swing leaf standing open.

  4. 04

Cycles per day, which sizes the operator and its duty rating.

  5. 05

Ground condition and fall across the opening.

  6. 06

Access devices, and what the gate should do when power or the access system is lost.
