Takt time reaches the door
Line-side and inter-shop openings sit inside the production cycle. A slow door becomes a constraint on the whole line.

Industry
Line-side openings where a stopped door stops the line.
01Industry challenges
Line-side and inter-shop openings sit inside the production cycle. A slow door becomes a constraint on the whole line.
Fume, overspray and particulate have to be contained without stopping material moving between shops.
Tugs, forklifts and AGVs run continuously through the same openings, and the guides are in their path.
Finished vehicle and component openings are wide, often external, and wind-loaded.
02Recommended solutions

High Speed Doors
Flexible reinforced PVC curtain that leaves its guides on impact and re-enters them automatically, for openings where forklift contact is routine.
2 configurations

High Speed Doors
Flexible PVC curtain rolling onto a drum above the opening, up to 5,000 × 5,000 mm, opening at 0.8–2.5 m/s under PLC, inverter and encoder control.
3 configurations

High Speed Doors
Double-skin insulated rigid panels up to 5,000 × 7,500 mm, opening at approximately 1.2–1.5 m/s under PLC, inverter and encoder control.
2 configurations

Industrial Doors
Insulated sectional doors in aluminium or galvanized steel with a PUF core, 40–50 mm thick, spanning up to 10 m, in manual and motorised configurations.
6 configurations

Automatic Gates
Motorised sliding gates for factory, warehouse and campus entrances, running on a floor track or cantilevered clear of the driveway.
2 configurations
03Engineering considerations
Cycle time on line-side openings should be specified against takt, not against convenience.
Self-repairing doors pay for themselves where AGV and forklift routes pass close to the guides.
Wide external openings need wind class specified before curtain type is chosen.
Insulated panel doors hold a differential between shops that a fabric curtain will not.
Interlocking with plant control and traffic signalling should be agreed at design stage.
