About Insulated Rolling Shutter

An insulated shutter replaces the single-skin slat with a double-wall profile and an insulating core. That does two things at once: it slows heat transfer through the closed opening, and it noticeably reduces noise through it.

It is specified where an opening separates two environments that need to stay different — a temperature-controlled store from a dispatch hall, a production area from a yard, or a loading area from an office elevation.

Core material and thickness are selected against the requirement rather than fixed. PU, PIR, mineral wool and other tested insulations are all used, and which one is right depends on the thermal, acoustic and fire requirements of the opening.

Which configuration is right for your application?

What the decision actually turns on. If your situation is not listed, describe the opening and we will work it through with you.

The shutter is opened and closed many times a day: Size on duty first and motorise it. A shutter chosen only on curtain size will wear at the barrel and drive long before the curtain gives out.
The opening is external or exposed: State the exposure. It decides the guide section, whether wind locks are needed, and rules out lighter curtains regardless of opening size.
The opening separates two temperatures: State the differential. It decides the core, the core thickness and the perimeter sealing, which together are what actually deliver the performance.
Noise through the opening is the problem: The same construction helps, but state the acoustic requirement explicitly, because it can point at a different core.
A large industrial span as well as insulation: The industrial insulated configuration, where the curtain and drive are sized for the span alongside the insulation.
The room is a freezer and the opening is used constantly: An insulated shutter is not a rapid door. Where cycle time drives the air exchange, look at the high speed cold storage door instead.
