High Speed Doors/Controlled Environment High Speed Doors

High Speed Cold Storage / Freezer Door

A high speed door for temperature-controlled logistics, cold rooms, freezer environments and food-processing facilities.

A royal-blue high speed insulated cold storage door lowered to about two-thirds across an opening in the white insulated-panel wall of a chilled warehouse, its quilted curtain with a full-width clear vision band running in stainless guide columns with thick black thermal seals beneath a plain stainless hood, cool-lit racking and a light haze of cold air visible beneath the insulated bottom bar, a line of frost along the sill, a wall control station with display and red emergency stop beside the guide and yellow-and-black bollardsHigh Speed Doors

01Overview

About High Speed Cold Storage / Freezer Door

A cold store opening is not a warehouse opening that happens to be cold. Every cycle exchanges air across a large temperature difference, and the consequences arrive at the door before they arrive anywhere else: ice in the guides, condensation on the surfaces, frost at the threshold. A door specified for ambient conditions fails in a freezer room quickly, and in ways that are expensive to unpick.

03Variants

Available configurations

The same product, built for a different job. Where a specification depends on opening dimensions, selected profile, operating duty or site conditions, the final configuration is confirmed during technical assessment.

  • Heated guide configuration

Guide heating for rooms cold enough that ice formation in the guides would otherwise take the door out of service.

  • Temperature-resistant guide configuration

For chilled rooms where the temperature is low enough to need a specified guide material but not low enough to require heating.

FAQ

Questions we are actually asked

Where is a high speed cold storage door suitable?
Cold rooms, frozen storage, cold-chain logistics, food processing, temperature-controlled warehouses and refrigerated production areas — openings where the door itself has to work at the room temperature.
What temperature can it work at?
Operating temperature is project-specific. A chilled room and a blast freezer are different engineering problems and one figure would not describe both, so we configure the curtain, guides and sealing against the actual room temperature.
Why do the guides need heating?
Because ice formation in the guides, not curtain wear, is what usually takes a cold store door out of service. A heated or temperature-resistant guide configuration is supplied where the room requires it.
What opening sizes are possible?
Maximum dimensions are project-specific for this configuration. Send us the opening dimensions along with the room temperature and we will confirm what is achievable.
How fast does it operate?
Opening and closing speeds are application dependent. On a cold store opening the useful speed is the one that minimises air exchange for the traffic you actually have, which is a different calculation from a warehouse throughway.
How is condensation handled?
Anti-condensation is optional depending on the environment, and a heater system is optional and application dependent. Both are specified against the room and the ambient conditions outside it rather than fitted as standard.
Can it be interlocked with a second door?
Yes, where the opening forms one side of an airlock, so both doors are never open together and the air exchange happens once rather than twice.
What information do you need to quote?
Clear width and height of the opening, the headroom and side room available, roughly how many cycles a day it will take, whether it is internal or external, and what the two sides of the opening have to keep different from each other. Five answers and a photograph are usually enough for a configuration and a price.
