01Overview

About Automatic Sliding Gates

A sliding gate moves a single leaf parallel to the boundary line, which makes it the practical choice wherever there is no room for a leaf to swing into the road or the yard. Two arrangements are common: track-guided, where the leaf runs on a ground rail, and cantilever, where the leaf is carried on rollers set back from the opening so nothing crosses the driveway.

03Variants

Available configurations

The same product, built for a different job. Where a specification depends on opening dimensions, selected profile, operating duty or site conditions, the final configuration is confirmed during technical assessment.

  • Track guided

The leaf runs on a ground rail. Suits long, heavy leaves on a level, well-drained approach; the track must be kept clear of silt.

  • Cantilever

The leaf is carried on rollers set back from the opening, so nothing crosses the driveway. Chosen where drainage, silt or heavy axle loads rule out a ground track.

Automatic Sliding Gates in detail

  • An automatic sliding gate seen from the driveway at a three-quarter angle, the anthracite slatted leaf a third open and sliding behind the boundary wall, with the operator on its plinth, the rack along the bottom rail and the ground track in view
  • Ground-level close-up of a sliding gate's lower mechanism: the steel ground track flush in the paving, grooved wheels under the gate's bottom rail running on it, and the toothed rack bolted along the rail
  • The automatic sliding-gate operator, a compact grey housing bolted to a concrete plinth beside the leaf with the rack on the gate's bottom rail running behind it, the manual release cover on the front and the ground track beneath
  • Control and safety hardware at a sliding gate post: a photocell sensor mounted low on the anthracite post, the access reader plate on the white pillar and a small control enclosure with antenna near the operator
  • A complete automatic sliding gate installation seen from the street, gate closed: the anthracite slatted leaf between white pillars, the operator on its plinth, the ground track, planting and the modern house behind

FAQ

Questions we are actually asked

How much space is needed beside a sliding gate?
A single leaf needs roughly its own width of clear boundary to retract into, plus the operator. Where that does not exist, a telescopic arrangement halves it and a swing or retractable gate may suit better.
Tracked or cantilever?
Cantilever where the driveway must stay clear for drainage, silt or heavy loading. Tracked where the approach is level and well drained and the leaf is long and heavy.
What happens if the power fails?
A key-operated manual release disengages the drive so the leaf can be moved by hand. Battery backup can be specified where the entrance must keep operating.
How is the gate stopped from closing on a vehicle?
Photocells across the opening, a safety edge on the leading edge, obstruction detection in the operator, and ground loops that confirm the vehicle has cleared before closing.
