01Overview

About Automatic Swing Gates

A swing gate hinges on posts either side of the opening. Where the site has depth for a leaf to open inward and traffic is moderate, it is the simplest and least expensive way to automate an entrance, and it keeps the driveway free of tracks and guides.

03Variants

Available configurations

The same product, built for a different job. Where a specification depends on opening dimensions, selected profile, operating duty or site conditions, the final configuration is confirmed during technical assessment.

  • Articulated arm operator

For wide or heavy leaves, and where the hinge post sits back from the opening. The arm folds as the leaf swings.

  • Linear ram operator

The usual choice for residential and light commercial leaves. Compact and simple to install on a standard hinge post.

  • Underground operator

The drive sits in a foundation box at the hinge, invisible when the gate is closed. Requires drainage in the box.

Automatic Swing Gates in detail

  • An automatic double-leaf swing gate seen from the street at a three-quarter angle, both anthracite slatted leaves half open and swinging inward, with a linear ram operator on each white pillar reaching to its leaf
  • Close-up of a linear ram swing-gate operator: the grey and silver actuator body on its pillar bracket, the chrome rod extending to the bracket bolted to the anthracite leaf, and the manual release cover
  • The hinge side of an automatic swing gate leaf: black hinges carrying the anthracite leaf on its post beside the white pillar, with the ram operator running from its pillar bracket along the leaf to the front bracket, the leaf slightly open
  • Control and safety hardware on a swing gate pillar: a keypad and reader plate at hand height, a small control enclosure with antenna above, and a photocell sensor mounted low facing across the opening
  • A complete automatic swing gate installation seen from the street, both leaves fully open with the operators on the pillars, the drive leading to a modern house between white walls and planting

FAQ

Questions we are actually asked

Swing or sliding gate?
Geometry decides it. Swing needs depth for the arc and keeps the driveway clear of tracks; sliding needs side-run but tolerates wind and heavy leaves better.
Can both leaves be automated independently?
Yes, and on a double gate the controller sequences them so they open and close in the right order and do not clash at the meeting stile.
Is an electric lock necessary?
On longer or wind-exposed leaves it holds the gate closed against the meeting stile. Whether it is needed depends on leaf length, exposure and the operator type.
