About Fire Rated Sliding Doors
A sliding door on a compartment or controlled-area opening has to satisfy two requirements at once. It must move automatically and hygienically for the traffic that uses it every day, and it must close properly against its frame when the building's fire or containment strategy requires it.

Questions we are actually asked
- Can one door be both automatic and fire rated?
- It can be an automatic door that closes correctly against its frame when the strategy requires it. Whether a given configuration can be certified for a specific period is confirmed against a test certificate for that assembly.
- Are the surfaces suitable for a cleanroom?
- HPL, painted steel and powder-coated aluminium faces wipe down. The right choice depends on the cleaning agents used, which we ask about at survey.
- What lead thickness is available for shielded rooms?
- Our published specification includes a 3.0 mm lead sheet with lead glass vision panels. The thickness actually required comes from the room's shielding calculation.
