High Speed Doors/Roll-Up High Speed Doors

High Speed Roll-Up Door

A flexible PVC rapid door for high-frequency industrial and internal traffic.

A royal-blue high speed roll-up door lowered to about two-thirds across a wide internal warehouse opening, its taut PVC curtain with a full-width clear vision band running between brushed stainless guide columns beneath a plain stainless hood, the lit dispatch hall visible beneath the bottom rail, a wall control station with display and red emergency stop beside the guide and yellow-and-black bollards on the polished concrete floorHigh Speed Doors

01Overview

About High Speed Roll-Up Door

A high speed roll-up door replaces a rigid leaf with a high-density PVC-coated polyester curtain that winds onto a drum above the opening. There is no heavy panel to accelerate, which is what allows the door to clear a busy opening in seconds rather than tens of seconds. On an aperture crossed a few hundred times a shift, that difference is the whole business case: the building spends far less of the day standing open.

Available configurations

The same product, built for a different job. Where a specification depends on opening dimensions, selected profile, operating duty or site conditions, the final configuration is confirmed during technical assessment.

  • Internal mounting

For openings inside the building envelope, where wind load is not part of the specification and the curtain is working against dust, noise and temperature rather than weather.

  • External mounting

For openings in an external elevation, specified against the wind resistance the exposure requires.

  • Stainless steel frame and guides

Stainless frame and guide rails for areas that are hosed or foamed down, where painted steel does not survive the cleaning regime.

FAQ

Questions we are actually asked

Where is a high speed roll-up door suitable?
Internal and sheltered openings crossed continuously through the shift — warehouses, factories, logistics facilities, workshops, production areas and material movement routes. It is the general-purpose rapid door, and the one to start from unless something about the opening rules it out.
What opening sizes are possible?
Up to 5,000 mm wide and up to 5,000 mm high. Both figures depend on the configuration and are confirmed for your opening rather than promised from a table — a door at the top of the width range and one at the top of the height range are not the same door.
How fast does it open and close?
Opening speed is 0.8–2.5 m/s and closing speed is 0.5–0.8 m/s, both subject to configuration. Closing is deliberately the slower of the two on any high speed door, because a descending curtain is the movement that has to be safe.
Which activation systems are available?
Radar, push button, photocell and loop detector. Which one suits depends on the traffic: radar for mixed vehicle and pedestrian flow, a loop where only vehicles should open the door, a push button where opening should be a deliberate act.
What safety systems are included?
A photocell and a safety edge as standard, so the curtain will not close on an obstruction and reverses on contact. Manual crank or override operation is part of the specification, not an accessory.
Can it be integrated with our existing automation?
Yes. The control is PLC-based with an inverter and encoder, and takes a release signal from an access control system, a loop or a plant signal. It does not care which credential technology sits in front of it.
How much headroom does it need?
Enough for the drum and its cover above the lintel, plus the guides at each jamb. It is configuration dependent, so it is measured at survey rather than quoted from a table — and it is the dimension that rules out more high speed doors than opening width does.
What information do you need to quote?
Clear width and height of the opening, the headroom and side room available, roughly how many cycles a day it will take, whether it is internal or external, and what the two sides of the opening have to keep different from each other. Five answers and a photograph are usually enough for a configuration and a price.
