High Speed Doors/Rigid Panel High Speed Doors

High Speed Rigid / Insulated Door

A rigid insulated high speed door for openings that need more structural rigidity and thermal separation than a fabric curtain can give.

A royal-blue high speed rigid insulated door lowered to about two-thirds across a wide internal warehouse opening, its stacked double-skin panels separated by slim aluminium joint profiles with a full-width glazed row at mid height, running in black guide columns beneath a plain brushed stainless hood, the lit hall visible beneath the aluminium bottom rail, a wall control station with display and red emergency stop beside the guide and yellow-and-black bollards on the polished concrete floorHigh Speed Doors

01Overview

About High Speed Rigid / Insulated Door

There is a point at which a fabric curtain stops being the right answer. An opening that has to hold a genuine temperature difference, or that sits on an exposed elevation and has to carry the load, needs a leaf with structure in it. This configuration uses double-skin insulated rigid panels in aluminium alloy or engineered metal, 40–43 mm thick, with a PU or thermal insulation core.

03Variants

Available configurations

The same product, built for a different job. Where a specification depends on opening dimensions, selected profile, operating duty or site conditions, the final configuration is confirmed during technical assessment.

  • External configuration

Engineered for external applications, where the leaf has to carry the elevation load as well as cycle quickly.

  • Thermal separation configuration

For internal openings between areas held at different temperatures, where a fabric curtain will not hold the differential.

High Speed Rigid / Insulated Door in detail

  • A high speed rigid insulated door in a warehouse opening seen from a three-quarter angle, closed: smooth blue double-skin panels joined by slim aluminium profiles, a full-width glazed vision row, a plain stainless hood, black steel guide columns, control box and bollards
  • Close-up of the leaf of a high speed rigid insulated door: two smooth blue double-skin panels meeting along a brushed-aluminium joint profile with a black seal, and the aluminium-framed glazed vision panel with a slim mullion below
  • Close-up of the side guide of a high speed rigid insulated door: the ends of two blue insulated panels entering the black steel guide column, each carrying a guide roller on a short axle running in the channel, with the aluminium joint profile between them and a black side seal
  • Top corner of a high speed rigid insulated door: the plain stainless hood with the geared electric drive motor on the shaft end and its conduit, the top blue panel with its aluminium joint profile running in the black guide column

FAQ

Questions we are actually asked

Why choose a rigid insulated door over a fabric one?
Two reasons, and both have to be real to justify the cost. Insulation, where the opening separates two temperatures and a curtain will not hold the difference. And rigidity, on a tall external elevation where the leaf has to carry load.
Is it slower than a roll-up door?
Yes, and deliberately. Published opening is approximately 1.2–1.5 m/s with closing at approximately 0.6 m/s, both subject to configuration. A heavier leaf has to be decelerated under control rather than dropped.
What opening sizes are possible?
Up to 5,000 mm wide and up to 7,500 mm high, subject to configuration — the tallest published figure in this family after the fold-up door.
How is it different from the spiral door?
Both use rigid insulated panels. The spiral guides the leaf into a spiral so the panels never touch, and is published faster and to a slightly greater width. This configuration lifts the panels vertically and is published taller, to 7,500 mm. Which one fits usually comes down to the head detail and whether height or speed is the binding requirement.
What wind loading can it take?
It is engineered for external applications, against the conditions the elevation actually sees. We confirm that per opening rather than publishing one figure for every site.
What safety systems are fitted?
A photocell, a safety edge and an emergency stop. Activation is by radar, infrared or push button, with the whole cycle managed by a PLC with an inverter and encoder.
What information do you need to quote?
Clear width and height of the opening, the headroom and side room available, roughly how many cycles a day it will take, whether it is internal or external, and what the two sides of the opening have to keep different from each other. Five answers and a photograph are usually enough for a configuration and a price.
