Industrial Doors/Sectional Overhead Doors

Industrial Sectional Overhead Doors

Insulated panels that stack overhead and free the whole opening.

A white insulated sectional overhead door part raised inside a warehouse, its panels tracked up under the roof on torsion-spring gear, a row of glazed vision panels across one section and a control panel with emergency stop on the jamb, looking out to a loading yardIndustrial Doors

01Overview

About Industrial Sectional Overhead Doors

A sectional door is built from horizontal insulated panels hinged together, running on tracks that curve from vertical to horizontal above the opening. When open, the whole door sits flat under the roof — the aperture is completely clear, and so is the wall on either side of it.

Available configurations

The same product, built for a different job. Where a specification depends on opening dimensions, selected profile, operating duty or site conditions, the final configuration is confirmed during technical assessment.

  • Standard lift

The default arrangement where there is moderate clear headroom above the opening. The leaf runs up the wall then turns back under the roof.

  • High lift

Extends the vertical track so the leaf travels further up before turning, freeing usable height beneath the horizontal track. For buildings with generous headroom.

  • Vertical lift

The leaf stores entirely vertically against the wall. Suits very high internal clearance and keeps the ceiling completely clear.

  • Low headroom

A second horizontal track lets the door operate where there is very little space between the top of the opening and the structure.

  • Glazed vision panels

Vision sections in one or more panels, or a full-vision glazed leaf, where daylight or sightlines through the opening matter.

  • Wicket access door

A pedestrian door built into the leaf, interlocked so the main door only runs when the wicket is closed.

Industrial Sectional Overhead Doors in detail

  • An industrial sectional overhead door seen from inside the warehouse at a three-quarter angle, closed: five white insulated panels with a row of four windows, galvanised hinges and vertical tracks, the torsion shaft and black springs above the head, the control box and bollards
  • Square-on close-up of a sectional door panel joint: two flush white insulated panels meeting along a level joint line, a galvanised intermediate hinge bolted across it and the corner of a black-framed window above
  • Close-up at the jamb of a sectional door: the galvanised end hinge with its roller running in the vertical track, the panel edges against the black jamb seal, and the track curving overhead
  • The overhead mechanism of an industrial sectional door: galvanised torsion shaft in its brackets, black torsion springs, the cable drum with lifting cable, and the door operator on the shaft end with its chain override
  • An industrial sectional door two-thirds open seen from inside the warehouse, the upper panels travelling onto the horizontal overhead tracks under the roof while the lower panels remain in the vertical tracks, the loading yard visible through the opening

FAQ

Questions we are actually asked

How much headroom does a sectional door need?
It depends on the lift configuration, which is chosen from the headroom available rather than the other way round. Standard lift needs the most conventional allowance; low headroom track exists specifically for openings that cannot provide it. The figure is confirmed at survey.
Can a sectional door be insulated?
Yes — our published specification is a 40–50 mm PUF-cored aluminium or galvanized steel panel, which gives both thermal and acoustic separation.
What stops the door falling if a spring breaks?
A spring-break device arrests the torsion assembly and an anti-fall device arrests the leaf if a lifting cable breaks. Both are part of the door, not options.
How wide can a sectional door be?
Our published configurations span up to 10 m. Beyond that the assembly is engineered against the specific opening.
