About Galvalume Rolling Shutter
Galvalume is steel coated with an aluminium-zinc alloy rather than zinc alone. It sits above galvanized on corrosion protection while keeping everything else about a steel shutter: the strength, the repairability and the cost base.

FAQ
Questions we are actually asked
- How is Galvalume different from galvanized?
- Galvanized steel is coated with zinc; Galvalume is coated with an aluminium-zinc alloy. In practice the alloy coating gives better protection in exposed conditions, on the same steel curtain.
- How long will it last in a coastal environment?
- We do not publish a corrosion life, because it depends on the specific atmosphere, the coating specification and maintenance. We can tell you where Galvalume sits relative to galvanized and stainless, and specify against the site rather than against a number.
- What sizes is the Galvalume Rolling Shutter available in?
- It is made to the opening rather than supplied in fixed sizes. Send us the clear width and height along with the headroom and side room available, and we will confirm what the configuration supports.
- Can it be motorised, and can an existing shutter be motorised?
- Yes to both, where the curtain and barrel suit it. Motor selection follows curtain weight, opening size, barrel diameter and how often the shutter runs, so it is calculated for the opening rather than taken from a product line.
- What happens during a power failure?
- Every powered shutter is supplied with a manual override, by hand chain, crank or release depending on the configuration. It is part of the specification rather than an accessory.
- What do you need from us to quote?
- Clear opening width and height, the headroom and side room, roughly how many times a day it will be used, whether it is internal or external, and the finish you want. That is usually enough for a configuration and a price.
